Steve is a focussed product development manager with the ability to drive progress across all fronts. He’s at his best when he’s clearly accountable and responsible for success and can use his engineering expertise to solve problems and manage timescales. He’s versatile, having recently managed product standardisation projects covering a complex rotationally moulded assembly, a web based tank monitoring application and mechanical in-house assembly. Allied to engineering, Steve has developed a part numbering system from scratch and developed a hierarchy of control for product development in Microsoft SharePoint, greatly improving collaboration and communication.

I had the pleasure of working with Steve for almost three years at Blatchford.
We worked together on various projects and I have been constantly impressed with both his professionalism and performance. Steve is a brilliant design engineer with many years of experience. He can successfully run multiple projects; manage design changes and new product launches. He is extremely enthusiastic about his work which is infectious. He always has a creative, positive outlook. In all aspects of his work, Steve has demonstrated remarkable leadership and organizational abilities. He was always ready for the extra miles to achieve the goal.
As a team member or a leader, Steve earns my highest recommendation and it would be a great pleasure to work with him again.

QMT Engineer at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

When Steve joined Blatchford in the 1990s, the most technically advanced products available to the amputee were simple mechanical knees with relatively crude control cylinders. Moving into the 2010s, the limbs contain microprocessor controlled hydro-pneumatic cylinders capable of adapting to changes in walking speeds and terrains. During this period Steve’s contribution to the design and development has been fundamental and continuous. He has been a key member of project teams working on new and strategically important designs.
Steve has consistently generated and developed innovative design solutions to complex problems, satisfying market requirements as well as those for CE marking of medical devices.  He has an uncompromising approach to quality that has been respected within the company and also by various external project teams that we have worked with.
Using his extensive experience, Steve has helped develop the project management techniques currently being used on our new generation of products. He has also worked closely with various universities, collaborating on ground breaking ideas for prosthetics.
He has also presented papers at international conferences and performed the role of technical support for sales and training and for many years he has been developing and mentoring our junior engineers. He has designed many successful products that have made a significant contribution to the commercial success of the company.
